How to Help Your Baby Nap – 5 Useful Tips for Parents
Babies sleep a lot because it helps them rest during the day and develop various parts of their body and mind.
While your baby sleeps during the day, you can use that time to do something or rest. But, what happens if your baby is having sleeping problems? He/She is crying all the time, distracting you and consuming your time to find what is causing that. One of the main reasons why babies cry all the time is because they are tired and want to sleep better.
But, what are some of the things you can try to make your little one sleep better and not cry anymore?
Here are some of the things for you to learn to help your kid nap.
How to Help Your Baby Nap
Down below, you can find some tips on how to help your kid nap better, so you will not struggle anymore getting him to nap during the day.
1. Swaddle him
A lot of parents remove their kid’s swaddle very early. This is one of the main reasons why babies start napping so poorly.
If you swaddle your kid, she/he will sleep better, faster and longer.
I recommend the swaddle blankets from Carter’s and Swaddle Designs but any traditional swaddle blanket will do the work.
Also, remember to get a sleep sack that helps keep their arms down and remember not to swaddle them too tight.
2. Use blackout curtains
A lot of parents use cute and fashionable curtains for their kid’s room but in most of the cases, these curtains let a lot of light in.
I recommend using blackout curtains in your kid’s room, which make the room dark and simulate almost how dark it is at night and help him know it is time to sleep.
3. White Noise Machine
We all know that babies and toddlers are very loud. If you have a toddler in the house and are trying to get your little baby to sleep, it will be almost impossible because even the little noises and cracks can distract your little baby from sleeping.
So, there are some white noise machines or something similar which will help you kid’s sleep by blocking out some of your toddler’s noises.
The white noise machines can come as a fan, sound machine or an app for your mobile phone that you let play by their crib.
When it is time to wean them away, you can begin turning down the volume of the sound or the speed of the fan, slowly every day and your baby will begin getting used to normal noises around the house.
4. Always Place your Baby in the Crib
A lot of parents hold their kid on their chest or their arms and get them to nap there. It is recommended to get your baby to sleep in their crib. He/She will get used to it and will get it as a signal that is time to sleep.
5. Use a Pacifier
Dr. Harvey Karp, author of the “The Happiest Baby on the Block” Book recommends using a pacifier because it helps your little one sleeping by activating a calming reflex.
Buy and Stock a couple of pacifiers because they can be easily damaged, are very useful and are cheap.
These are some of the tips on how to help your baby nap.
Hopefully, these tips can help your little one nap better, because a crying baby can be very frustrating and annoying.
